The Chaplaincy Program is a supportive service available to the entire school community every school day. Our chaplain is a safe person for students to connect with at school providing a listening ear and a caring presence.
School administration, teachers and parents may request support for students from our chaplain in relation to challenges including those arising from family conflict or parent separations, friendship, peer relations or self-esteem concerns. This may be an isolated discussion or ongoing depending on the student’s level of need. Parental consent is sought for these cases.
Our school chaplain also initiates and implements proactive programs to help students develop appropriate social skills and build self-esteem. Daily lunch/playtime activities as well as participation in off campus activities such as camps, excursions and interschool sport enable the chaplain to establish and maintain a positive, trusting rapport and relationship with students.
The chaplaincy program provides an integral service within the suite of interventions available at Glenvale State School to support students’ social and emotional well-being.
