Student absences

If students are absent from school either through sickness or other reasons, parents are required to text 0427 077 182 or phone 46592160 before 10am, to advise the school of the reason for the absence – eg sick, family reasons, holiday, sport etc. Please reply with: child’s name, child’s class and absence reason and the dates if they are in the past or future. The school then knows the reason for their absence on the day the child is away. If you cannot text, a note is required (signed by parent) to explain the reason for the absence. Parents will be contacted concerning all unexplained absences.

Late arrivals/early pick up of students

All students need to report to the office if they are late arriving to school (after the 9:00 am bell) A late slip will be issued to give to their teacher for roll recording.
If you need to pick up your child early from school please come to the office for signing out.  Your child’s teacher will be contacted and arrangements will be made for your child to meet you at the office.

Medication during school

If your child requires staff to administer medication to your child at school, please contact the school office in the first instance to discuss your child’s requirements.
Please note, school staff will only administer medication that:
  • has been prescribed by a qualified health practitioner (e.g. doctor, dentist)
  • is in its original container
  • has an attached pharmacy label

Office staff will ask you to complete and sign Section 1 of the Administration of medication at school record sheet.

School staff will not administer medication that you can buy over-the-counter at chemists and supermarkets (e.g. paracetamol, eye drops, cough syrup) unless it has been prescribed by your child’s qualified health practitioner. For example, the school would administer paracetamol to a student only if it has been prescribed by their dentist to be taken for a short time after dental treatment.

Money collection
Money for school activities (eg. class excursions, interschool sport, swimming lessons) must be sent to the school in the permission/payment envelope provided by the school, with the student’s name, class, activity and amount enclosed. Envelopes are to be handed to the office. Payments can be made in the office by cash, cheque or EFTPOS. Online payments can be processed via BPOINT (details on student’s tax invoices).

Parking

Due to the slope of Glenvale Road and fairly narrow roadway, it is important that parents are very careful when parking or reversing out of parking bays.

U-turns are illegal anywhere in front of the school. The police have advised that 150m clear vision is needed. This means no car or other vehicles can be in sight. This obviously applies, especially from 8:00 – 9:00am and 2:45 and 3:20pm on school days when there will be lots of traffic.

No cars are allowed inside the grounds without prior approval. The drop off zone operates from 8:00 – 9:00am and 3:00 – 3:20pm. Please note that there is a 2-minute standing period only that applies to this zone and drivers must remain in their vehicles. All traffic must exit to the left.

The 'Look Out' Stop, Collect and Go operates between 3:00pm – 3:20pm at the drop off zone to ensure quick clearance of vehicles in the zone:
  • Pick up children only by the car's kerb side doors
  • If your child/children are not there, go around the block and try again
  • As many families as possible are encouraged to use the designated car park with entry from Glenvale Road and exit via McDougall St.

School crossing

While crossing supervisors are on duty (8:00am–8:50am & 2:55pm-3:25pm) everyone is asked to cross at the crossing. When adults do this they encourage safe practices for children. The 40km school zone is effective 7:00am—9:00am and 2:00pm—4:00pm on school days.
